Batteries

How can my husband discharge caravan batteries for the winter? I mean they need to be charged and discharged but he does not want to have to go into the caravan to put on lights to discharge them and keep moving them in and out of the caravan locker.

Von,

Can't quite see why your Husband wants to discharge batteries on purpose. A battery will remain in much better condition if kept charged rather than totally discharging and then restoring. Heavy charging of leisure batteries can sometimes cause damage which in turn will decrease the life of the battery.

Von, do not deliberately try and discharge the batteries. They are quite capable of doing this themselves over a period of time.

If you take them down to fully discharged, sulfation of the plates takes place which kills the battery completely.

Just recharge every couple of months with an intelligent charger.
