Unless you use what is called a "Smart Charger", yes even a trickle charger will damage a battery.

Most caravan chargers are not Smart.

If you have an ordinary car type charger take it of charge certainly after 24 hours, probably after 12 unless it was really flat to start with.

kim my caravan is parked at home and is plugged in and the charger on 24/7 this has been like it for the past 5 years unless being used and the battery is fine. so my last 2 vans + and this one must have a smart charger unlike JTQ has stated. I know alot of forum uses do this as this subject has come up before.
