My post right at the beginning of this thread says 'elecsol' but I stand by my decision not to buy another Internet battery as local outlets have a variety of makes, they are competitive and the Carriage of Goods Act makes returning a used internet battery difficult.

If the battery is faulty, then you should be able to claim back any courier costs.

yes I understand that point, but as I said the legislation regarding the carriage of used acid cell batteries has effectively ruled out your normal couriers. Only licences companies can collect them but these tend to be local recycling not long distance couriers. As an earlier poster told me I could have claimed against Tanya who did eventually arrange collection but without payment up front it wasn't going to get collected. So after what had been a time consuming process involving the seller and manufacturer I wasn't in the mood to go chasing after £14 as looking at the bigger picture I had obtained a brand new battery with improved handle design. Also don't underestimate the effort required to securely pack an acid cell battery for carriage assuming you can find a courier. Don't throw the breather plugs away for starters!!
