My old battery was draining after full charge.

On taking it out to check water it fell out of caravan and the casing shattered.

I bought a new battery and the sanme is happening and have had the new one cheched and it is ok

The conclusion is that there is a charge from somewhere draining when all is turned off.

aLL FUSES ARE INTACT

How can i check to find if there is a drain when all is off

Then how do I locate the cause

Had a whole campsite baffled by trhis

Two repairers say theu have not encountered this before

Hi Newton,

If you have a multimeter disconnect one of the battery terminals and connect the ammeter between the battery and the loose lead - if it shows a reading there's current flowing thus discharging the battery.

Assming there is it's a case of narrowing down your search!

Try removing each fuse in turn - when the current stops flowing you've isolated the circuit which is causing the problem. Work your way back through that circuit to find the cause of the problem.

Hope this is some help!

Hi Newton,

What Rupert has described is basic circuit fault finding. I do not wish to be unkind, but if you do not understand the basics, please do not dabble even with 12V.

There is enough power in a battery to cause a fire if a wrong connecting is made,

If you don't have the basic knowledge about electrical circuits then I think you do need to get a capable person to help or do it for you.

Newton here is an idea for you to check.

I had a similar problem and first of all I will ask have you a radio fitted?..........

If so youi may find that although you have turned things off the memory for the radio will drain your battery a whole lot quicker than you think

I hope this will help

Sir Roger
