Battery flat

I reported a flat battery some time ago and blamed the Sony radio as I thought I hadn't switched it off properly. Went to van last week to find we had dropped from 12.9 to 9.6. Replaced battery and as i connected heard the radio brrrrrr- cd player?. Disconnected everything and started again to find that radio actually flashed up. How do I switch the blasted thing off? I've removed it from the van as a temporary measure. In testing the system I noticed that the terminal sparked except when the fuse for the battery is out. With no EHU and the master switch off why is this circuit still alive?

The radio circuit is still live as most radios have a memory for the tuned stations, cut all power and you lose the stations.
Whilst this is not really a problem, it does mean that you have to re tune every time if power is removed

for a long time i find it quicker to auto find the stations than re charge battery.Re program stations a few minutes recharge a lot longer.

Had a Sony radio in our last van. We had to push and hold the off button down for a few seconds to get it to turn off completely.

Ours too, our van also has an alarm whose battery is topped up by the van battery, but even my old 85Ahr battery will last several weeks in storage.

remover the memorey wire from the back of the radio you should have a red and yellow wire metting 1 12v wire in you vans loom find the memory wire and just dont use it but you willose all presets
