Battery, what size?

Evening vanning chums.

So we have just a had a few days in the van and whilst away the hook up tripped (combination of water heater, space heater and kettle being put on) I was out walking the hound at the time so 'the boss' just left it all off as the 12v lights were still on...
So, I get back just to see the lights going out, our battery only lasted about 5 mins.
We recently purchased our van and it's now 11 years old so I guess the battery is goosed... Not a problem as I know batteries don't last forever.
However, I've just got myself a nice AWD twin axle motor mover to fit (probably at the end of the season) so I knew I'd need a newer/bigger battery anyway.
So, what size should I go for? Obviously I'll be driving 4 motors with it so I guess it's a matter of getting 110ah or more, what's the largest sized output leisure battery available?... What do you good folk recommend?

Many thanks

Rog.

Hi Rog, I'm sure others will come back with more detailed information, but sometimes its the actual dimensions of the battery compartment in your van that can have an influence on the size of battery that can be accommodated.

If you can measure the space available you should be able to compare the specs of suitable batteries to make sure they will fit and that they do not take up too much of your precious payload (batteries are heavy chaps!) Remember to allow extra space (height usually) for the cables/connectors (mover cables are pretty hefty chaps as well!)

Experts on here will no doubt comment but I would be inclined to go for the biggest output in terms of amp hrs that you can fit without taking up too much of the payload allowance......

110 or 115 amp hour is a typical sort of output that would do the job in a lot of cases.
Happy Caravanning

I can thoroughly recommend Tayna Batteries I bought one just three weeks ago. Excellent communications with them and had a next day delivery. I spoke to their customer services during the ordering and they are very helpful.110amp leisure cost me £59.54.Half the price of dealers and Halfrauds

How many nights have you used your battery in the 3 weeks you've had it? If it's not may then has it had a good thrashing for you to be able to say you "can thoroughly recommend" it? ;) :)

W.C. Deli Dave has also bought from Tayna. He bought a Gel Battery quite some time ago. Just to make another point Tayna carry a 3Year Warranty.I suppose it depends on how long you expect a battery to last.
I do believe that quite sometime ago these people had good remarks on this forum.I accept your apology.

I don,t know about everyone else but fitting the battery is now a two person job.
My battery sits on a tray and needs to go into the battery box dead straight other wise it will not fit. The wife holds the tray whilst I lift the battery. It is a tight fit but just about goes in.
It has been mentioned about leaving room for the leads but if the battery also sits on a tray it will raise the battery by a few centimeters, not much I know but it could make the difference between the battery fitting or not.

Hi Mike I cant quote other peoples battery suppliers as I found Tayna and at their prices I went straight to them. What I can tell you is their range of batteries I found to be slightly smaller on height in particular. It is worth checking out their website.I did go through ebay just searched 110amp leisure battery and to correct a mistake in an earlier post it has a four year warranty not three. They do insist on checking battery sizes before ordering and I did pick up on different sizes .I have been advised by others that Gel batteries are half the weight but no Idea of cost .Available at Tayna

Sir Roger

Had my Tayna Battery over 5 years, on previous van and this current one, only an 85AH and it also drives my mover as well.
