Battery

Just got the caravan out of storage to sort it out for going away on the weekend. The battery has gone dead and won't charge. Anyone got any expereince of what this could be ?

Hi Dave, I think it's a case of 'can't see it so didn't touch it' scenario ! Just like me..never checked the levels of the cells and once you get a duff one, i.e. lack of acid....then it will never charge. You have to remember that they are almost always on charge to a varying degree.

My lazyness cost me

How old is the battery ? After some years - 4 or 5 say - batteries tend to "die" suddenly. Also, if it is a leisure battery and you have ever charged it off the van with a car battery charger you may have damaged the plates, leading to premature failure. Leisure batteries are desighned to take a trickle charge (as from the van supply unit) not a fast charge from the car type battery charger.
