Battery

I have just gone to reinstalled my battery ready for the season after removing it for the winter. On connecting the second terminal I got a flash from it telling me that it must be drawing current from some where. I've checked that nothing is on, including the mover, should this happen? What bothers me is that come the time I go to use it in a couple of weeks it's going to be flat as strangely enough it was when I removed it.

Any ideas??

John

Both radio/CD players and intruder alarms are normally wired direct to the battery. Also the TV aerial amplifier is sometimes wired directly.
Thanks for that. I'm an idiot, I've just sat here and thought about that. This is a new caravan and the first I've had with an alarm fitted. I know that the alarm system has its own battery but that could be flat over the winter. I've played safe for now and left one terminal unconnected.

do you have an alarm fitted? the alarm will have its own battery which is charged by the caravan battery.

Might be worth while measuring the current with a multimeter. When my system is about fully charged and nothing switched on except for the alarm, I see a drain of about 20 to 100 mA

Thanks Chris, I realise now re the alarm system, as I am due to take it out in around a week I've left it disconnected for now and I'll check it when we get back. I only bought it late last year (Swift Challenger 510) and took it out for a week end to check everything out before winterising it. On my first visit this year I found the battery dead flat and when I tried to charge it I found it would not and that the battery was faulty. I took it back to Chichester Caravans and they changed it for me, it was then I noticed this flash when connecting it.

Sorry for the long reply, John
