I know there are some members who are knowledgeable about aircraft so may be interested in one of these for the garden. (Really not suitable for the caravan).

A relation of ours pilots Tornados for a living. They were scrapping one so he bought the exhaust and reverse thrusters. (I have probably not used the right names).

He has just installed it in his garden. Here are some pictures.

I imagine the grid will need lifting to use the thrusters. see video.

That’s on full reheat so a steak would cook in a very short time, and would be about 10 ft above it. I now know why the RAF. Tornados were retired in 2019. It was because the squadrons got forewarning of Covid, and because holidays in 2020-21 would be limited they could cannibalise the “ old workhorse” and enjoy themselves at home. 🤣🤣🤣

Cool stuff. I did some work on the Tornado but the avionics aren't that impressive to look at unless you're a geek like me.

We used to see them practising low level flight around here but these days its the Typhoon - which I also worked on. Mind you we don't see them that often now - price of fuel perhaps?

If you are interested in avionics spotting, worth going to see the TSR2 at the RAF museum Cosford. a site to behold. But your phone probably has more capability.

Everything has more electronic capability nowadays - I did my apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce in the '60s, we had the largest computer in Europe - my 10-year old basic laptop has more memory and disk storage than that R-R machine!
