We all agree that Forums have rules, of which many are common, but some Forums of course have extra ones. In the larger picture at this time there is a conflict between the general desire of some for the objective of the Internet to be a completely free from restriction medium, and of course othes who have commercial as well as political interests in some form of control. The Jury is still undecided on the outcome of that one.

I have no problem with rules, after all if you enter a shop and break something, you are usually expected to pay for it. However, out of curiosity I am wondering why Haymarket actually have this Forum at all? It is designed for individuals with a shared interest in caravanning, or even camping of various types to discuss technical and other issues, and that is great. But what does Haymarket get out of it? I am disinclined to believe they are providing this out of the goodness of their heart, especially in these credit restricted times. If for instance each Post had a Haymarket logo or something attached, I could understand, but there is no encouragement to actually buy the magazine, or even any other periodical in their stable. I assume there are fees to pay for the set up and running of this Forum.

Possibly someone maybe can explain to me just what Haymarket's position is with respect to this Forum.I had a look at the various pages but do not see any Statement of Position from them anywhere. Maybe I have missed it.

SL says ... "I assume there are fees to pay for the set up and running of this Forum".

This is true SL and they pay in groats, the currency at the time the site was conceived :O)

In all honesty I don't know the cost of running a site SL, but to put it into perspective, if a private individual, Gary @ http://www.carryoncamping.org/ can run/pay for an all singing/dancing site with all the bells and whistles without advertising I would think Haymarket, with all their millions, probably get paid by the Museum of Computing to use this decrepid engine.

I feel that you have to take the PCV forum stance as a bit of a joke and the moderators are either in on the game or being fooled as well.

Haymarket own more than one magazine and web site, pointed comment on goods and services are made there with no problem so why is it different here and for caravanners than else where in the Haymarket empire?

'Pointed comments on goods and services' are also made on this website with no problem. A browse through various sections of this forum will confirm this fact.

All that is required is that these comments are true and can be proven as such.

There is no difference in the rules of this forum to that of any other mainstream caravan forum. Most of the deleted posts on this forum are either taken off because they have insulted other members or because other forum members have complained that they find the post offensive or innapropriate.

The majority of forum members who use this forum to post complaints or comments about caravan related goods or services don't seem to have any problems in sticking to the rules that govern this and pretty much every other caravan forum on the internet.

Actually, speaking as a decrepit oldie, I quite like the simplicity of the PC Site. All the technology and gizmos are usually lost on me and composing and typing a simple question/answer is to my mind all that is required, just as long as it is easily read and understood.

I have similar opinions regarding those people who embellish their e mail signature with all sorts of colours, font sizes and styles. Possibly a substitute for all sorts of impotence problems perhaps.

I agree, this site is simple and easy to read, and all the better for it, compared with some others. I too prefer straightforward information and advice/help rather than fancy gizmo's which say more about the contributor than the subject being commented upon.

not bothered about the fancy bits but edit facility would be nice, also a Frequently asked questions section might help,a decent search facility perhaps as well wouldnt hurt.
