Bed slats

Caravan breakers or replace with one from the end, then replace that with say thickish ply.

Next time try not to be so rough on the bed!

I would take it along to a timber yard/DIY store and buy the nearest match

I made a slatted bed once using 2" X 1" timber

It may be worth replacing the lot while you are at it

Thats exactly what i did on our last outing when struggling with a fitted sheet. Learnt a valuable lesson... make the bed up BEFORE going to our friends 'van for a few drams,

Gavin.

And I bet you had laugh at the time.

I wish you guys wouldn't go on about weight as I'm on a diet!!!

Wish I hadn't started this now!!!!

Thanks for all the replys though

When we bought our Elddis 630, we found that the rear bed wouldn't make up because all the slats had been cut almost a cm too short. Didn't matter how carefully you spread them out, we still ended up falling through the middle.

Funny the first time, but we had a dreadful night's sleep as a result.

Sorted it by buying some sheet MDF and making 4 pieces which fit the runners perfectly. Far more stable, as there is no side to side movement at all, and easily stored under one of the seats. The roll up slats have been rolled out of sight permanently in disgrace!!

Slats came into favour as they helped the air to circulate and avoided condensation

This used to be a problem when it was normal practice to use the table for the centre section of the bed

You could find your MDF suffers in this way as the weather gets colder

dont be tempted to use mdf it isnt up to the job, when i broke one i went to my local timber yard with a slat they cut me 14 of the right size out of offcut 7 ply plywood sanded as well for

Idris has probably replaced the bed slats by now but if anyone else needs some, may I suggest a visit to the South Coast.
