we always leave the double bed at the front of our van made up even when travelling, I'm thinking of buying a proper mattress, an orthopaedic one, as I have a bad back. I want to know whether it will be ok or might it affect our outfit when towing. would appreciate any comments on this matter.

I've suffer from a bad back for many years, following a slipped disk. We have an orthopaedic bed at home but the bed in the caravan is even better as it is firmer and has a solid base. Experiment for a few nights at home using your domestic mattress in the caravan.
