We are travelling through Belgium from Dunkirk to the Moselle region of Germany in April and would welcome suggestions for 2 short stays in Belgium maybe with a town/village in walking distance.

CC or ACSI sites would be the icing on the cake!

many thanks

We stay at Blaarmeersen, on the edge of Gent every year. Good site with a lake, bar, restaurant. Superb sports centre on site. Short bus ride into town takes 20 minutes and buses run every 15 mins or so. Municipal site. Booking is easy. Email to say when you are arriving. Pay on Tuesdays or when you leave. No deposits.

We are there again for 16 days in May for cycling and the Ypres 100 walk.

Blaarmeersen is good for Ghent, buses from outside to town.

The Municipal site at Tournai is excellent, and all for about 9 Euros inc electric and showers! Went there last year as it was in the right place for a stop, but the town is lovely, very old and interesting. Motorway Tournai Est exit, head for town centre, left at 1st Xroads the signed "Camping Orient"

I too would recommend Blaarmeersen but make sure you get a pitch that is a left turn past the restaurant - those to the right are very near the Ring and can get noisy.

If going through the Ardennes there is a pleasant municipal site albeit in need of a bit of a refit alonside the river in Dinant.

If you are going to the Mosselle, unless you have specific need for Bernkastel-Kues consider the western end and stay in Luxembourg. Camping Koekelschur to the south of the city is a very nice site with a nearby bus stop into the city - Luxembourg city is very often overlooked. There is also a very good municipal at Born alongside the river north of Wasserbillig (the Lux-German border.) Trier is only a short ride over the border, and you could make Piesport and Berkastel in a day trip.

The overall advantage of Luxembourg is that it has the cheapest fuel in western Europe!
