Hi,

Looking for a bit advice on where to go in Belgium. It would be the 1st time abroad with the van, so looking for something easy.

Also how to get there. What are the prices like for the Rosyth ferry? or are you better travelling south for them?

Do I need to change my gas type (Calor propane) and what else do you need to travel abroad?

we use the Hull to Zeebrugge crossing most of the time, it is excellent and if you book early you will get a good price----the Rosythe Ferry IS expensive---P&O'S next year prices are now on offer on their web site----sunday is the best time to travel as the caravans go free----wherever we go we always end up on the belgian coast for our last 3-4 days, stay at a lovely little site in De Hann called camping De Heide

www.campingdeheide.be----for first timers the belgian coast is very good and of course the ferry is about 25 mins away----if you require directions let me know

Hi Iain,

There are some very good site in Belgium, and some great places to visit (Brugge, Gent, etc.) and Southern Holland is also great.

On my commute back from Rotterdam to Wendover, I stayed in the town of Damme (in a small family hotel) just 10 km to the north of Brugge. It's a great town to visit for one or two nights, great restaurants - I just had a snack - a large glass of Palm beer (dark Belgian beer) and a beautifully cooked "farmer's style" omelette that covered a dinner plate with separate bowls of salad and saut

We have travelled to and through Belgium many times as we have friends there and in Germany.

Two good sites: in Gent go to Blaarmeersen which is adjacent to a sports and watersports centres. Gent is a great place to visit (many say better than Brugges) and has a daily flower market, and pet and antiques markets on Sunday morning. Go to www.gent.be and dig a little - it has an English option.

If you want to go further afield try Luxembourg - Kockelschur. Good site, bus service into city, and an interesting pace, plus you can trip into France and Germany.

Finally, although I have never stayed there Knocke (pronounced Ke-nock-er) is a bit like Bond Street by the Sea. Very posh but well worth a visit.
