best caravan site for walking dogs..

hello, can anyone tell me in their opinion which is the best site they have been to with regards to walking their dogs...we have 2 old english sheepdogs..we prefer quiet sites...favourite site for walking the dogs so far is keswick c&cc...any suggestions would be most helpfull...ED

hi ed. not a dog owner myself, but recently stayed at ross park at newton abbot in devon.found this to be a excellent site and spotlessly clean.they had a long dog walk and a dedeicated seperate dog bath and shower!most people seemed to have a dog with them.as i said i am not a dog owner,or particularly a dog lover but would now be a firm believer in blame the owner not the dog because not only was the site immaculate but so was the behaviour of all the dogs!in fact i cannot recall even hearing any barking!dogs often get a bad press on these forums so i just thought i would stick up for the ones i saw at this excellent site.

Ed try Sandrigham CC site, miles of woodland walks all belonging to HM the Queen which she has give us access too.

You can walk to Sandrigham about a 6 mile round trip from the site through the woods.

Another great day is to drive to Holkom Beach and watch your dogs go daft, miles upon miles of Sand, when you have walked as far as can return by the forest walk back to the car park "brilliant".

Try Low park wood near Kendal & Park Coppice, Coniston, both with loads of excellent walks & scenery

thankyou for that, we have been to low park wood, but one of our labradors at the time came a way with a couple of ticks, so put me off. we have been to sandringham c&cc site but not the cc site...we went without the dogs as the labs were alot older then and we didnt have the dulux dogs..might try it though...i like to be able to walk the dogs and not feel im intruding on other people because there may not be a sufficient dog walk..thanks people..ED

Clumber Park cc site in the East Mids/ Nottinghamshire area is fine for walking dogs, site is not exactly tranquil, especially at weekends, but you can't fault it for walking....has its own private gate and entrance straight into Sherwood forest

Chatsworth Park Caravan Club site, acres of Chatsworth Park to walk the dog. Gate at rear of site leads straight into the park.

Dogs on leads at all times due to sheep and deer.

Depends where you want to go, most caravan club sites have good dog areas. We have just had 5 nights at Threeways in Cornwall, there were excellent walks from the site & the wardens had put together 5 walks & sold them for 50p to charity.

Try Regent Park near Morecambe Bay (South Lakeland Holidays) - pet friendly and a beautiful site.

Lots of walks near by - both beach and countryside which was great for our dogs. The park itself is also great for walking and we could let the dogs off around our caravan without causing disturbance to other holidaymakers.

The park is just half an hour from the lakes so you can walk around Windermere and Troutbeck too without any problems.

Breathtaking scenery and lots of space for the dogs to run around.

I dont have a dog but try the C&CC club site on Cannock Chase,walk straight onto the chase with what they claim is the biggest dog walk,probably right as the Chase covers thousands of acres

Silverbank CC site in Banchory nr Aberdeen is great. You take a path through the woods next to the site which takes you to the river and you can walk for miles along the side of the river on a propoer path. I believe at one time it was a railway line.

Another vote for Ross Park in Devon here. It is by far the best site i have ever stayed on for dog facilities and walks. You even get a bonio for each dog when you check in.

HI! Ed good site in Scotland is C&CC site at Scone just on outskirts of Perth site has just been refurbished ,new roads new hardstandings toilets just been renewed great walks down to the river Tay (fishing great)right next to racecourse walk round that (3 miles) also next to Scone palace Kinnoul hill walk 3 miles from site (walk for miles and miles )5 golf courses within 5 miles

Bo Peep Farm just outside Banbury is also worth considering. The site is surrounded by farmland owned by the site, they use tractor and mower to cut dog walks around the edges of the fields and down by the river. Disposal bins for dog mess situated around the walks, there must be miles of trails cut around and through the fields.
