Best satellite dish

Hi all, which satellite dish would you recommend for touring in the UK, for a Sky system (smaller the better) please.

You might want to have a read of the various bits on www.satgear.co.uk.

I got ours from them but what I bought was not what I thought I needed if that makes sense.

You should think about the following points when considering what to buy.

Mounting of dish. Jockey wheel? Tripod? Jockey wheels are no good on NW facing pitches. Tripods need pegging down.

Signal meter. No you don't NEED one but it makes setup a lot quicker. Compass is good as well for the basic direction.

Where you tour. Makes a difference to how large a dish you need.

Carry case. Again, not needed but helps keep it all from getting damaged in transit.

Cables. Make sure you have one which is going to be long enough. I replaced the original 10 metre one so I could set the tripod away from the van if needs be.

Once you have all this sorted, bookmark a site called www.dishpointer.co.uk. It will give you the angles for pointing in different places. The Astra-2 satellite is the one to point at.

I agree with Darren. Cheaper the better and I have used a sky dish as far as northern Spain.

You should be able tp pick up a sky dish with lnb and bracket for less than

Keep an eye out on Aldi or Lidl. Every now and then they have a leisure Satellite system for under

I use a zone 2 sky dish (60cm instead of 43).Attatched to either jockey wheel or on tripod inside the awning(looking thru a window)
