Our favourite Scottish sites would be, Altnaharra, Garlieston,

and Glen Coe. As Maureen said, the CC site at River Croe was lovely, what a shame they closed it! Also really like the C&CC site at Barns Ness, lovely dog walks along the coast!

A local site would probably be The Covert, 'cause it's great for the dog!

Favourite one in Devon or Cornwall, we liked Treamble Valley!

We love the C&CC site at Haltwhistle in Northumberland, great place if you like red squirrels!

And many others!!!

Just back from 2and a bit weeks away in the van. Visited The Woods, CC site at Stirling. New owner since we were last there and although he has put in hard standings, new fresh/waste water points and upgraded the TV booster system standards seem to have slipped. The site looks tired. Then onto Silverbank CC site at Banchory. Beautiful site, well looked after by the wardens who had all the time in the world to speak to you.So handy to walk into the town, pub 1/4mile along the road which do great meals (booking recommended as it tends to get busy at times. A big bonus was the weather which was fantastic (shirt sleeves in Banchory in April!!!)then down to CL at Dunning which thoughly deserves the awards it has won, then back home until time to go off again.

Another good site is Aird Donald in Stranraer.Only 200 yards off A75 Very under rated site. Hard standings or electrics, immaculate toilet blocks.Easy walk into town

Our best site is TRETHIAS FARM just outside Padstow,it is a open site on the Cornish coastal path, basic toilet block/showers.Free washing machine and a 2 min walk to Treyarnon Bay beach, with rock pools for the kids and a natural swimming pool full of fish.We book on the 1st of Jan to get our 3 weeks in August,i believe the site is fully booked for the year by mid January, only 2 months to go can't wait.

We have just returned from Bury Caravan Club Site. The facilities were immaculate - they even had a bathroom for kids so we could bath the boys before bed.

There is the Steam Railway that runs alongside the camp so in the daytime you have every 15 minutes lovely steam or diesel trains chugging by all whistles blowing and people waving.

It is next to Burrs country park so lots of lovely walks along river banks, the boys caught tadpoles.

All in all higly recommended

Sango Sands in Durness gets my vote for best site, (so far).

The scenery is breathtaking, it doesn't cost the earth, it's by a sandy beach and theres no supermarkets for miles. The dog loved it too!

Read re Durness. Whats scenery like here, is it flat or hilly?

Liked the picture, but would like some hills

Bashley, in the New Forest. Clean, well presented and a delight for couples and families alike. Open all year with a range of facilities that can keep you as active or relaxed as much as you want.

This is starting to sound like an advert, so I'll stop here.
like you this site was great. We booked for 10 nights and ended up staying for 14, we never went off the site as there was enough to keep my son busy. everything was clean and tidy with wardens watching the toilet blocks all day, pitches were a great size. only 1 thing wrong we took a pitch next to the trees to shelter from the sun a little and we had a thunder storm during the night and it washed all the old leaves and sap off trees onto or awning it was in a really sorry state, are hopefully heading back there next year.

Lisa,

There are four of us including a 6 and 7 year old and we have a number of favourites for different reasons: -

The Dowerhouse in Norfolk. Big pitches and loads of space for the kids. It attracts us every Easter.

SandyBalls in New Forest as it has indoor and outdoor pools and lots to do, including evening entertainment for kids.

If you get the weather, Godrevy in Hayle, Cornwall. Good site fairly close to a marvellous beach.

Heathland Beach in Kessingland. Excellent site. Large pitches, good kids play areas, heated pools and good location for sight seeing.

We've had some stinkers as well, I'd stay clear of : -

Searles in Hunstanton. Pool was so dirty that you couldn't see the bottom. Overcrowded, small pitches and over rated in my opinion.

St Ives Bay Holiday Park in Hayle. Although situated right on a great beach, it wa similar to Searles.

It would be great to hear about other peoples opinions of good and bad sites they've visited....

Steve
