Hi, just back from weekend away to find that our suncamp 390 porch awning must have been still damp when put away on previous trip (2 weeks ago) there is black spots over the roof, what is the best way to clean the awning, also with the heavy rain we noticed that it was leaking in places is this normal or does it need sprayed with something.

Thanks Jenny

Hi Jennifer,

Not sure about cleaning it, we used to just use water and maybe a little washing up liquid.

Ours didn't leak initially, but after a couple of years and heavy rain, it did. We decided to get a canvas porch awning, more sturdy for winter touring. I think a re-proofing liquid, Fenwicks do it, will improve the leaking.

Good luck,

Alex.

Hi Jennifer,

Not so sure about the cleaning of your sunncamp porch awning. Anything other than warm water might tend to take the water proofing off it and make it leak even more.

I have a suncamp ultima 390. Before I used it for the first time I went round all the main seams with awning seam sealant. I had read a few posts about problems with leaks, it even mentioned that this might be required on the instruction leaflet that came with the awning. Even after having done this I found that in heavy rain it still leaks at certain seams.

One of the reasons I have bought a Bradcot porch awning to replace the ultima.

Thanks for the replies, didn't know about the sealant for the seams i'll try and get that. (We bought it of ebay secondhand, no instructions with it)

Thanks again and if anyone knows of a product that cleans black spots of without damaging water proofing please let me know.
