Better Forum software Please.

Whilst I am extremely grateful for this forum and it's facilities, could we not have a better more upto date format that perhaps uses a proprietry software such as SMF (Simple Machines) or Vbulletin, PhpBB, etc etc.

I'm sure both users and Mods would much appreciate it. It would allow far more features including a decent search!

It would also be nice to know for example who are newbies, who's been here a while, who contributes a lot.

Just my thoughts guys.

Any mods to second the proposal?

Hello Mark,

I guess you are fairly new to this forum. Those of us who have suffered long and hard with its foibles know that the difficulty lies with teh sites owners - Haymarket publications- who have promised a new forum engine , but have so far failed to provide it, and we understand now that the techie who was working on it has been pulled of the project.

It seems we are doomed to continue with its unhelpful ways.

We understand that this engine that God used when he was planning the creation. It would have been completed in one day except the forum broke down and he had to wait 6 days for it to be repaired.

Hi John, no actually I've been here for quite a while now (which actually prooves the very point I was making about better software, lol.)

I just wanted to bring the matter up under it's own heading to raise the profile.

A new forum engine has been put on the back burner for the forseeable future.

Obviously the "Boss" has not made enough profit to see fit to actually produce what was promised over two years ago.

Don't even ask how the Mods feel!!!!!!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the real reason the new engine has been delayed was because the moderators received an annual bonus similar to Sir Fred of the RBS and that Practical Caravan can no longer afford the new technology.

True???

Robert :)
