Bikes

Any advice please

Best bike rack to carry 2 bikes. Outfit is a Discovery 3 fitted with a removeable tow bar towing a twin axle . Don't want to put the bikes inside van or the car.
Can't seem to find a rack to fit on the back of the Discovery

Anyone with the same outfit that has found the answer to this problem.

We've just got rid of our third Discovery, a 4 this time after two 3's, three nightmare cars are enough for any family.
Disco Bicycle racks we found were a problem roof mount wise unless you are seven foot six tall or travel with a stepladder and that goes for most thing if you have roof rack on a Disco. Also you're already driving a fuel thirsty brick and a rack plus cycles on the roof doesn't improve that. Rear mount off the doors or bumper are another option but then you have the rear doors blocked. Some cars you can manage to swing the tail gate up with a couple of bikes on it, with the split disco doors that isn't so easy. We need our boot rear access with our dogs so we also discounted rear mounted racks. Our answer was cheap bicycle flight bags ( can be found new or used on Ebay or discount web cycle sites ) and they go in the car or caravan with ease and cause no damage. When we take them with our VW camper we sometimes put them on the roof rack and find it less trouble than Thule rack and standing them up and clamping them.
