bingo

If this comes up twice, my apologies.

I have a question about Bingo, not being one to frequent such activity you understand.

My daughter is at Pontins, each bingo book is a pound with 55p going towards the prize money and 45p being a "participation fee". There is no mention of this participation fee being accrued for any charity and its something I've never heard of before. Just wondering whether its usual? The very few times I have experienced the game, all the money taken has been distributed as prize money..

30ish years ago, my parents used to be in charge of bingo sessions in our local village hall, if i remember correctly the participation fee went to the gaming board. just a tax really.
