Getting into this now, and planning our next trip already, even though we haven't been on our first one yet. Wanted to get ahead and book somethings before every where is full. Looking at New Forest area as its further than our first trip, but not too far. Does any one know what Black Knowl is like. We are looking at April school holiday time. We know the area a little bit as we have stayed in a hotel there about 6 years ago.

Black Knowl is one of the gems in the CC network. Situated in the heart of ther New Forest accessed by an "adventurous" mile or so road off the main highway. It is approx 1.5 miles from Brockenhurst and can be walked to through the forest. The site presents an excellent base for exploring the Forest on foot or bike, as well as the coast etc. However it is an extremely popular site at all times and I would not waste any time in trying to book in. If it is full there are Forestry Commission sites in the area, the biggest of which is Hollands Wood. There are also CC sites at Wareham (Hunters Moon) and Moreton (Crossways) that I would equally recommend, both of which have access to forest walks and the coast. Good luck!
