It probably hasn't gone black, but was black all the time. What has happened, though, is that, with time, it has expanded slightly out of the joint that it seals. This is normal. Excess sealant can be removed with benzine, but don't use too much. Only the excess should be wetted with the solvent, not the seal itself.
if its real caravan stuff it should ok a good clean up is needed ,if some one has used house sealent it will mould may be some one has re sealed it.
