Black waste pipe not fitting

I have just bought a 2000 Herald Clermont. The dealer gave us as part of our starter pack a length of black waste pipe which he assured us was the correct size to fit the waste outlets. After siting the van for the first time, the black waste pipes would not fit the outlet points. We went back and the dealer gave us a length of a larger size, which was way too big. Has the waste pipe standard changed recently? Any suggestions as to why the pipe doesn't fit?

Bob, I had a 2000 Herald Magnum which is the same variant of the van. I think waste hose comes in either 1 inch or 32mm variants. If I remember correctly the van used the 1 inch variant. There were two types of this the first being matt finished with the corrugations being parallel and close together and this fitted easily. The second type was shiny and had a spiral metal running around it with the corrugations spread out. This fitted with difficulty.

Thanks Ray. The pipe I was given is like the first you describe. However it doesn't seem to fit any of the three waste points. I was told the gray pipe might fit, but it needed a rubber fitting. Not sure what to try.

I think you need the grey pipe with rubber inserts that will reduce the pipe to the correct size or that is what a friend of mine had to do as he had the same if not nearly the same problem.

Strange as that it how the grey pipe fitted to my 2000 herald connected to the rear of the outlet socket. The front of the socket (as fitted to my 2000 herald) took 1 inch black. I suppose the best thing would be to pull the hose of the rear and remove the socket ( 2 screws) and take it to the dealers and try the hoses in the shop.

Thanks for the comments. I will go and harrass the dealer and see if I can find some black hose that fits.
