I have just bought a caravan with blown air heating and when i have it on for any period of time the housing for the element in the wardrobe gets extremely hot.I am wondering if this is normal as i am going to Scotland for easter and will have the heater on for long periods.

It does tend to get warm and toasty above these heaters and to a degree this is normal, if you suspect it's too much, then I'd put your had down the back and check both ducting pipes are attached to the fan housing.

They should have a screw to stop them falling out but this can be missing allowing the duct to fall free and the hot air to escape into the space behind the fire. Of course if this is so, the outlets in that duct won't be delivering much if any hot air and this should give you a clue.

Hello Colin,

I support Gary's comments but would add a further point to check.

The fan impeller can become quite blocked with dust and other debris, this should be cleaned carefully so as not to upset the balance of the impeller.

I have just fitted 3 grills in a line above the fire with a computer fan to send the heat into the van body where you want it

I did the same on the previous van and it was greeted with approval on the service----"You can feel the heat coming out!"
