Few random asks

Hi folks,

On the countdown to our first trip, heading from NI over to Linwater Caravan Park, Newbridge, just outside Edinburgh. Already had a few questions answer and really appreciate it.

We have a 2005 Lunar Quasar 615-6.

Couple of random queries:

Have this hook type thing on the inside of my front storage. Should there be or can I get a bar to hold the front open. It’s where the gas/spare wheel is stored.

I then have these legs. Is that just how they are with it being an older van? I’ve seen a lot with black feet as such.

Finally I have this Thetford cassette C-420C R. Can I check what the top filler is for that’s on the caravan, not the removable cassette. Is it to fill the toilet as such?

Top filler is for flush water that you use after using the cassette. My last caravan had nothing to hold the front locker open. It was my neck and back that did that role.

Whilst we refer to this toilet water as "flush" water, it is nothing like we know as an WC flush, best thought of as a means to wet the bowl pre #2s and ease off any deposits left post use.
If treated as a WC flush the trip will be spent emptying the cassette.

I mention it as that is what I discovered a newbie family were doing, or trying to.

Forgot another quick ask. We have a 3 pin socket on the outside of the caravan, same side we’ll use an awning. Is it ok to connect this:

And then have an extension like this connected:

It would be for a cool box and maybe some lights at night

The socket on the outside will be wired to the mains power consumer unit inside the caravan, which already has all the protection necessary. So all you need is a simple domestic two or three way extension strip. Just make sur the strip is protected from drips or any water that might come across the inside of the awning.

Prof I had a friend with an old Adria, only one inside 230 volt socket European 2 pin, connected to a 4 socket British extension lead.
I was totally horrified to find they had a 2 ring hob, an electric kettle, toaster, and an electric fan. All running from this 2 pin European plug.
I fully expected to see their electrics glowing in the Awning. I like the idea of the breakers on the extension lead.

Well it seems your friend was foolish to do that, and I'm surprised his MCB (if he had one in his caravan) hadn't tripped with all that load. The OP's case, he has a UK caravan and should have all the necessary protection built into the caravan.

There is nothing wrong with using the kit the OP identified, but it should not be necessary for his set up and stated use.
