I just had great delight in emailing my French collueges I work with to say how sorry I was to hear the sad news...I have no reply yet..I think they have all gone home early..

My bet is that after they see how much it has cost and how much we have lost in hosting the games the French will be glad they never got them.

One thing for sure is that London will go all out to prove that it is the most expensive city in the world.
