Bordeaux

.
Hi All
What’s it like around the Bordeaux area. Got 2 girls 16/14yrs would like nice beaches & good restaurants. Was in the Lorre valley a couple of yrs ago nice but a bit quiet not very touristy.
Can someone recommend a good site in that area?
Thanks Richard W

Can't offer you a particular site. Bordeaux is a very big busy city and a good place to get through rather than stay. To the north the Gironde is ok but a bit flat and dull (IMHO) but if you want beaches etc look just a bit south and onto the coast. remeber this is on the Atlantic coast and thus inclined to have a maritime climate e.g. like the western side of the UK - very unlikely to be extremely hot and dry. South down the coast is better but is is all typiclly coastal flat, pines, sandy soil, no hills. (You will gather I am no fan of beaches). Further south gets a bit more interesting - down to the Spanish border.

I'm sure the afficianados of beaches will shoot me down very shortly.
