Hi Alan
I'm the guy who started the tie-down thread.
I assume you mean the the square pads which support the ends of the roof poles against the side of van. I leave them on the awning canvas when packing it away. They seem to stay in place okay. I bought some spare pads from my local dealer in case I loose any - I'm a "belt and braces" person
Incidentally a useful awning tip that I learnt this summer. If your awning rail has a wider, open sections, just below the roof level at each end, you can fit the roof part of the awning in their first and then slide the sides in downwards. It saves pulling the awning all the way round. I don't know if I'm a bit thick but I'd never thought of this in 7+ years of caravanning but a neighbour at New England Bay suggested this when we were putting up our awning there this summer.
Regards
Tim
