the gravel on the pitches is VERY narrow, and not long enough to put your car on the end. you'll have to hope for good weather so you can put it down the side of the van on the grass, in fact you will have to put it down the side regardless of the weather as there is know where else to put it, there is a decent area between pitches though, it's not owned by the CC but managed by the windermere council, so they will not accept club vouchers, which is what put me off as i booked to stay 4 nights as i had 4 vouchers and had to pay instead, the good points are its very close to the lake (just a 50-100 yard walk through the trees), toilet block immaculate, quiet enough site, but bowness is allways "heaving". personnally, i would go to a quiet CL like UPPER HAWTHWAITE, BROUGHTON-IN-FURNESS, you will not find a quieter, more friendly site with probably some of the best views of the southern lake district in the whole of this fine country we live in. but then again i would say that with it being my local as i live down the road. once you have met martin and pauline cooper you will be friends for life, believe me. TRY UPPER HAWTHWAITE, you won't regret it.

Hi

Valid comments about the pitch sizes. The site itself is very well kept (as are all CC sites and this being no exception) however you will have to keep all your vehicles etc on the hardstanding and not on the grass. Unless you have a 25ft plus van you car will fit across the front, you should also have been asked about the size of your outfit when you booked as they do have some pitches specifically longer for motorhomes, but I must admit that I do agree with Mark, Upper Hawthwaite is Excellent. Bowness is for us a place to go once but in our opinion never again, it's too commercial.

Enjoy your stay

Tom
