Breakfast

Depends on your hotel, and whereabouts you're likely to be 'Out and About'! We had a fabulous breakfast in a little Pensione, in the back streets of Rome, but my friend had a very poor offering from a four star hotel. We had coffee and 'croissants' in a back street cafe, which was delicious and cost very little - he paid a fortune for a coffee and 'cake' in a tourist cafe!

Might it depend on whether its included in the price of the hotel? Self service restaurants are quite common and in some places you have to decide what you want, pay for it and then take your ticket to the counter for what you have ordered. This is mainly for carry out food.
