So, I have just returned, I dont want to be here
I returned two days early and couldn't be more pleased to get home
Having sampled the Cumbrian weather of three fairly good days and nine of deluges we had had enough. The air was so saturated with moisture my luggholes were morphing into gills. Thursday nights weather showed a lull in the rain, not stopped but lull, so we went and got fuel about 10pm ready for the off the next morning.
Sure enough as promised, it wasn't persisting it down but drizzling, so we packed up with three others on our part of the site who went home early which left just two outfits. The warden said others on the main site were going early also.
What made it worse was family and friends at home texting that they'd only had rain once since we'd left and that wasn't enough to water the garden.
Due to the weather and volume of traffic it took 6 hours to get home but glad we did it.
When I look back now since we've been home I've mown the grass, cleared out the pond, pruned the shrubs amongst other small jobs and it's been bliss thinking we could have been huddled up in the van and me dreading the time to take the dogs out because we all came back like drowned rats. Sorry Cumbria, nice scenery when you can see it, but I don't miss you one bit
We aren't having much luck this year. We came home from Snowdonia early because of the incessant rain and midges. Let's hope Top Lodge has better weather in a few weeks time. Only home for one week and then it's Cornwall for two. That's the last then until Christmas and the New Year provided our drive and road isn't iced up like last year.
