Browsing the BF website I came across thesee 'clubs' which seem to offer quite large discounts if you use BF at least once a year.

For France the sign on fee is £70 plus an annual fee of £60 but this gives a 30% discount on fares (excluding overnight accommodation) and some other discounts on breakfasts, meals and day cabins.

Doing two retrun trips a year - car+van+2 always with cabin = this would appear to be quite a good deal, especially in second and subsequent years. I know BF is much more expensive than the Dover crossings but we live west and go down west coast of France, so have to factor in stress and cost of all the extra miles particularly M20 and M25, plus extra site nights en route.

Has anyone direct experience of these 'clubs' they could share ?

We've been members of the BF club for about 10 years (it used to be the Property Owners Club) and have found the discounts worthwhile. Like the OP we live in the West and if you take into account the long drag up to Dover, and then back again to get down the west side of France, BF is cheaper.

We joined BF Club Voyage last year for Spain. Cost was £100 joining fee plus £100 per year, so that makes it seem dear - at first. However, we are just about to set off on our second trip since joining and the saving on this trip alone for a large motorhome + 2 adults and a pet friendly cabin is just over £170.00. Can't remember what we saved on last autumn's Spanish sail, but it would be a similar amount, so well worth the outlay. You also get a free continental breakfast, and 10% discount off any meals in the restaurant.
We have gone through France several times, but found the cost of the extra diesel, campsites, tolls plus the stress and extra mileage on our vehicle just isn't worthwhile. We live in the north of England, so have a 300 mile journey to Portsmouth, so look forward to chilling out on the ferry.
