Broken window stay

Hi does anyone know how I can change a broken, side window stay on my 2007 bessacarr. Grandson was a bit heavy handed. I cant see anyway of removing the fitting from the plasic window.

regards Ian

If it is the two plastic hinge parts - black on mine - they will click back together if you persist. At first it seemed no way would they go back together when suddenly, hey presto, they did. If this is not the problem in your case ignore this posting.

Hi Mike on closer inspection it looks like the lever lock attached to the stay and the window may be a push on fitting, I cannot seem to slide it off very easily, do you think I could take a hammer to catch and knock it off?

Hi Ian.Dont hammer it off mate.

If you look closely, you will see a tiny hole where you have to push in a very fine round screwdriver or the eye end of a pin.

This will release the catch from the window catch, then slide it off.

Its a bit fiddly, but ive just replaced one on mine.

Glad to read this topic. I have a Swift Charisma and one of my window stays has broken. I could see how to detach the stay from the frame but not the window. However I have seen the tiny hole.

Many thanks
