Whats the problem I've asked three questions in my post, 1, cancelled appointments, 2, cancelled operations, 3, re-deployment of hospital staff,, I've not even mentioned corona virus I'm concerned about the folk who are not getting the treatment they deserve ,

You did not ask any questions, you made three complaints, which given the present circumstances are unfounded.

You questioned the integrity and commitment of medical staff.

And regards cancer treatments, the profession do not cancel appointments for no good reason, and in present circumstances the reasons are the vastly increased risk of exposing patients to Covid-19, and how that will compromise their outcomes.

The NHS hasn't closed down, it's still dealing with all other urgent things like heart attacks, strokes, and breakages etc.

I'm not happy with the NHS my wife has been waiting since last November to see an Orthorpedic specialist two week ago they cancelled her appointment at our small hospital so what is this specialist doing now don't tell me they are on the frontline also all the cancer appointments being cancelled, not impressed one bit, like the Prof says get all the corona patients in the Nightingales and the hospitals can operate normally, if they ever can,

I thought that the best way to answer your concerns might be to forward your post to the Nursing Sister near us who is still busily working in RUH Bath Oncology. Or perhaps the Haematology consultant at Leicester Glenfield who saw my brother two and a half weeks ago. And who required to see him in a further two weeks. And that appointment was held too. But they are too important to be bothered with such moans.

If you listen to news reports or read newspapers you'll see that
1: Routine non emergency hospital appointments have been cancelled because NHS staff are stretched to the limit treating Covid 19 (Coronavirus) patients.

2: Non urgent surgical procedures have also been cancelled for the same reason.

3: Hospital staff including orthopaedic specialists have been redeployed because the NHS doesn't have the spare capacity to deal with the present health emergency and to deal with normal out-patient cases and planned surgery as well.
Cancer patients are being advised by their oncologists about their treatment at present.
Anyone who suspects that they may have some form of cancer or any other serious condition because of recent symptoms should seek immediate medical advice.
There is no problem Camel, if you genuinely didn't know these things you do now.
If you simply pretended not to be aware and posted to provoke a forum reaction I strongly advise you not to.

I'm just glad your brother was seen at the Glenfield much better than my mates wife being told to leave the Royal,

My brother is classed as EV, has COPD, a lung embolism, cardio-circulatory problems and liver issues. Perhaps your mate's wife is in slightly better health.

I have heart failure, atrial fibrillation and COPD, these conditions were diagnosed by various specialists and I receive medication for them, along with the medication for thyroid gland function replacement because the gland was removed last October because it was cancerous
I have ongoing appointments with the cardio, ENT and lung specialists and these have all been postponed because of the burden placed upon the hospital and staff who are all working to defeat Coronavirus and to try to save the lives of those who have got it.
Your mates wife was probably asked to leave hospital for her own safety Camel.
I really don't fancy going to my local hospital at all, because the health issues that I'm taking medication for would render me highly likely to get Coronavirus which I'd be unlikely to survive.
Be careful what you wish for Camel, if specialists appointments are postponed or patients asked to leave hospital there's a good reason.
If the current strategy to deal with Covid 19 goes wrong the 20,000 deaths so far could appear small to what might happen.
That's why these Nightingale hospital were built, things could easily get a lot worse.

The A419 link between M4 and M5 has been extremely quiet again today. Even the HGVs are few. In the local High Street still very quiet. Shops only allowing one or two in at a time. They are small 😎. I see in today’s papers there are some saying lift the lockdown and don’t listen to the boffins. Someone tell me who the hell I should listen to please😲😲😲
Hello Dusty

Our son is a firefighter based in Swindon, so not too far from you, following advice from him we have not left our house since the lockdown began, as of today he is saying no chance of us being let out anytime soon, results so far seem to be working, but his bosses are scared stiff of a second peak if it should come as it will be immeasurably worse, so stay in for now and stay safe.

Would it be wrong for me to name my town and road about the increase of traffic?.
You can name your town if you want to Robert.
Police have reported a general increase in traffic over the past few days.
Hopefully the rain that is forecast for later this week will persuade people to stick to social distancing.

Why would you want to do that?
You have no idea why the people are travelling and it is of no concern to you.
For all you or I know they have legitimate reasons to be driving and if anyone has a problem with that, then the authorities are the ones to sort it out.
Playing internet vigilante serves no purpose.

A very good friend of ours had surgery two months ago to remove cancer, 1/3 of his tongue and all his left side neck lymph nodes. He is now into week four of a six week every day radiation programme at Churchill Oxford. Just shows the real cancer threat patients are being dealt with exactly as they deserve.
The NHS staff are doing a fantastic job putting their own lives on the line. Have you seen how many have died ?
Be under no illusion Camel Covid-19 is one mother of a serious killer. Well done the NHS cancelling non urgent appointments yet carrying on with all the real life threatening cases like my friend. Seems a very good call to me👍👍

I'm pleased for your friend that he had the treatment and care the NHS can offer and I hope the radiotherepy is successful, but you have no need to mention what covid19 can do I have been reading the Mail everyday for the last two month, once again I hope your friend makes good progress,

I cannot speak for England but in Scotland staff from all departments have been drafted in to fight Covid patients, even office staff. This does mean that they have freed up some staff who can work the Nightingale hospitals if they do need to open them.
My daughter who does computer system training for them in normal times, is doing the pay and recruitment work to free up hospital staff. It is sad but patients who do not have life threatening problems have had to wait but the NHS has had to prioritise, and unfortunately some people are suffering as a result.
The problem here seems to be easing, and some cancelled work might come back soon but we have to give those treating people the ability to deal with the most needy first.

That's not really what Dustydog wrote though Camel.
If you're going to quote previous posts from other members to fit whatever agenda you're trying to promote, please include the full sentence, not just a few words which distort the context of the original.
I don't know if you are hoping to create some sort of forum argument here.
Don't do it, it won't end well.

Yesterday my brother was contacted by Leicester Glenfield following two lots of tests and scans over the last month. The specialist told him that he required an angioplasty in his legs to improve blood circulation. He is down for the procedure in the very near future but he will be checked for coronavirus and must take his EV isolation seriously. The specialist described the hospitals approach for segregating Covid and non Covid patients and staff working with those patients. My brother has agreed to go ahead with the procedure as without it the options are grim.

Next Tuesday we will brave a 200 mile drive to north Devon to sort out my mum. She was taken to hospital two days ago with a suspected stroke. Taken home the same day and cared for by the Pathfinder team at her own home last 48 hours. Excellent reaction and forward planning by the NHS, If we are stopped by Police we have been told to refer them to the hospital who will confirm our journey is essential. Now that is excellent intelligent service. Clearly they have triaged what is and what is not life threatening.

Sorry to hear of your Mum’s condition but as you say the NHS response has been excellent. Fingers crossed for a good recovery.
