Hi all. In the fortunate position of being able to buy a new van this year. Rather liking the Bailey unicorn Valencia. Should we get one soon or wait until the 2016 models are unveiled. There are a few 2015 models on forecourts and given that new models will be coming in soon, prices may be better. However there may be goodies in the pipeline that we should wait for. Any thoughts?

I always think if you like what you see and it ticks all the boxes then go for it no matter what the year is .
Unless you know what is new around the corner you could be taking a gamble? From my experience they always seem to give with one hand then take away with the other and something they change might no be to your liking.Slight change in layout , cupboard removal etc.
Hindsight is a magical thing?
We were told by the dealer last year to wait for the new Buccaneer it was going to be something special??? Yes its 8ft wide lots of bits i don't need so i would never entertain it, but i would have changed for the previous year production if i hadn't waited? In the end i haven't changed.

I assume you are referring to the Unicorn 2 -v- the Unicorn 3.
I have seen the 3 and can say there have been some serious design changes although the equipment level remains the same. Look at the kitchens and bathrooms in particular plus the exterior paintwork and decals. They also changed the upholstery.
You should be able to see both models at a Bailey main agent. Certainly I was looking at the 3s at Chipping Sodbury this february.

Also it is possible the residual value of the 2 may be less than the 3..

As Michael says if you like what you see then go for it.
Now we can't wait to see the new baby at Aniita's :)

Bailey may not change the model for next year as they have a policy of making changes as and when they feel the need. The best time to get a deal is late September though when sales are down and dealers are faced with holding stock until next Spring. The problem with waiting though is what you want may have gone and the Unicorn has certainly done well this year.
It is up to you but if you see the Unicorn you want then it may be better to snap it up rather than risk missing it.

I wouldn't wait. My experience buying a Lunar Lexon 470 2014 model may be of assistance. I had a Lunar Quasar 462 (2007) and wanted something similar but not with blown air heating which I had heard could be noisy/harder to access. It's a pity manufacturers have done away with the convector fire - but that's progress! The Lexon for 2014 has the Alde system, which I can confirm is great, so we went for one of the last available vans just before 2015 details were announced. Lo and behold the 2015 spec for the Lexon 470 had a change to blown air heating!

So I would advise writing down your must-haves and if a van fits the bill at the right price just go for it! My must-haves were: Status TV aerial, Alde heating and reasonable weights for my Yeti to tow.

Only issue I had with the Lexon is the noseweight which I found tricky to get down to the 80kg limit of the Yeti.

Thank you all for your advice. Sir DD it is the Series 3 that we have been looking at. Think we will take the plunge sooner rather than later.
Not had a Bailey before but the spec is looking good for the money.
