Maybe this should be in the insurance section but as it is 'letting off steam' thought maybe this is the right heading.

Has anyone else had the same annoying and frustrating expierences - I have just bought our first van and tried getting quotes on line, some worked fine - however twice I went right through the whole questionairre taking 10/15mins each time and ended up with no quote at the end.

One when I got to the end said "We cannot give you a quote on line as your caravan is a Twin Axle, please phone...."

Another, just as I was coming to the end said "Sorry we cannot insure Caravans over 7'5" Wide"

Question - Why do they not put this info In BIG Letters at the start so you don't waste your time????

You could always ring them instead and stay on hold for 10/15 minutes before even speaking to someone. It's swings and roundabouts but I personally prefer online.

Do the words 'spider and web'not mean anything?

Yes, all websites have glowing letters advising of 'Online Quotes' However, in many cases these will not actually producs a number for you. However, by entering your data just to get to that point means your 'interest' has been logged and you will probably receive either a call or some literature through the Post, asking you to be a more specific, and of course more 'hooked'.

Basically if you really wish a quote then it is often a good idea to enter through the 'front door' and make a request for a specific quotation for your caravan etc. You can always say 'no' at the end and state you have used someone else. That in itself may trigger an even bigger discount, so you too can play the game.

I sometimes wish people would remember the Internet is no more than a glorified advertising page, and treat it accordingly.
