Is it normal for a dealer not to provide a leisure battery with a new caravan?

Negotiation is always possible. It all depends on how much they want the sale and what profit is in it for them. It is not unusual for dealers to offer a £500 starter pack.

I looked at a 2020 Alicanto today. I told the salesman that as I had sold up a few years ago I was a newbie. He imediatly offered a battery, aquarol, wastemaster and cable.

Yes, the dealers try it on, on one new caravan it was only at the last minute, that I noticed the pigtail for the gas bottle was removed after the walk around.
I went to my PX van and was about to remove it when the dealer said he would supply a new one.

Yes i would think a dealer will try it on if you after a new caravan but they always offer you a starter pack me probably prefer a battery and mover

It's easy for the "necessary extras" needed for someone new to caravanning buying a new one to spend close to £1K buying everything needed so negotiating a few bits & pieces into the sale is always a good idea.
