C.C.C ú5 early arrival charge

On receipt of this months CCC magazine I read an article stating there will be a surcharge of £5 for any units arriving before 12 noon,

I rang HO last season for a very good reason, I needed to be set up before 12 noon to enable me to collect my young Grandchildren from school as their parents were away on business,I was advised it was down to the site managers discretion,Why all of a sudden have the rules changed,I was under the impression we were members of a club for the benefit of the members not just for profit,In future does this mean we can arrive at 8 oclock in the morning and if there is a pitch we can then be sited.Your views please.

Quite agree, on making this rule they seem to have forgotten they are a club and should be serving their members, this definitely smacks of commercialism . If a pitch is available, then the member should be able to use it without payment.

I have written a letter of complaint and hope all others who disagree with this disgusting new rule do so as well.

Not wanting to start an arguement you understand, but.... The 12.00 rule is there to ensure that congestion is at a minimum with people leaving the site. I personnaly agree with this. Sure, there are going to be times when someone would like to arrive early/stay late and that is down to the wardens discretion, but rules are there for a reason and personnally I can see the logic behind it. We should also remember that while both organisations are still called "clubs" they aren't really, they are both businesses and (sadly) they will do anything to ensure smooth running and increase profits......

I thought I'd read this in the Caravan Club magazine, not the Camping & Caravanning Club mag.?? If it is the Caravan Club, then it's just one more reason to join the C & C Club and get the Over 55's discount on site fees. I managed to save almost

It most certainly is not the Caravan Club! As far as I'm aware early arrival is still by arrangement with the warden at the CC and incurs no extra charge!

Although it does not effect us, I throughly disagree with it. Normally I arrive on a C & C Club early evening after we have finished work and I pay for my two days stay however on each occasion we have been told to leave by 12 pm even though there were no other bookings.

The one time I opted to pay the extra to stay into the late afternoon because I did not fancy being home by 2 pm and wasting a day and during that time only three new vans came onto the site.

Another thing that really annoys me is that they, the warden, allocate you a site instead of allowing you to choose a site and if you object they get snotty about it. Try phoning and asking them to reserve a specific site for you and see what the response is. It is unlikely I will be renewing my membership with C & C Club next year!

Instead of moaning on this forum why don't you make a stand as I did with the CC, send them a letter of complaint and leave the so called club for profit (oh i mean members), it does affect us all indirectly but without the stand the clubs will always win as did the government with the last fuel protest. Me militant NO.

After reading all the replies on this subject, I have to agree with Garys comments. You book the site from mid-day on, so if you arrive at 9 am you pay extra. This should be sufficient incentive to reduce the congestion on sites and surrounding roads - it can be quite a big problem on many narrow lanes, with several vans arriving and leaving at the same time. A few years ago when sites weren't so busy I wouldn't see it as a problem, but, sadly for us who have been doing it for a while, caravanning has become hugely popular.

I don't really understand how enforcing this rule is going to reduce queues! We have booked a pitch at a CCC site for the Easter weekend, about an hour and a half's drive from home. Normally, we would expect to arrive between about 11.30 and 12.00, depending upon traffic. This year, because of this rule, we shall make a point of arriving on the dot of 12.00, even if we have to wait in the road outside until that time arrives. I have no doubt that many others will do the same. Hence a steady trickle of arrivals between about 11.00 and 12.00 will be converted into an absolute deluge at noon.

As for paying from 12.00,we, like most members, have to work hard for our living. If, in the summer months we wish to get away on Friday evening, it will usually be 7.00 before we can get there: no rebate is ever made for this, and we are still expected to leave by twelve on the Sunday.

I think the CCC has made a big miscalculation here, but only time will tell!

ron, when you contact the CCC they dont respond....we complained about our storage facility ie; under trees and being infested with snails because the grass was too long...did they listen HELL NO!!! although they say they are the friendly club, it still remains to be seen by us... where our van is stored at the moment, it is like the gastapo!!! but we are stuck!!!!!!M25 area.....bj
