Calais Port

You can - but you have to pay now according to a posting on another website. The area is on your right as you approach the check-in booths - you'll see loads of other caravanners and motorhomers there, too. There was a comment, though, that now it isn't 'run' by the council, that it's no longer patrolled by the Gendarmes, and therefore all the boy-racers use the approaches to the docks, and the car park, as a race track and it has become noisy. This isn't from personal experience though, but someone else's reply to another posting elsewhere.

Hi David.

I can answer your question because only last night we spent on the dockside parking area at Calais. We arrived there at 8.30pm and stayed until checkm in at 8.30 this morning. Many others did the same with no charge or any boy racers. There are no HGV nearby because they are directed to another area of the docks. The area is very well lit, which must be a security plus point. Toilets are available at the adjoining foot passenger terminal.

PS had a great fortnight at Camping Belchenblick in the Black Forest.

Hi. Thanks Brum for imfo.

Does this mean we drive as if we are going to embarkation and then turn right before check in?

How far in front of the check in is the turning?

It is just to the right of the check in area. You turn right at the roundabout and it is signed "car park" or "ticket purchase"
