The site is just a few kilometres from the port at Cherbourg - can you use that crossing instead? It's a smallish site, terraced, overlooking a bay (across a road, but not busy). The pitches are not huge, and when we were there (some years ago now) the washblocks were old-fashioned, but clean. There was a smallish bar/restaurant with pool tables, and a pool tournament going on the night we were there. Only stayed one night, so can't remember any more details.

Stayed on this site last year for a couple of weeks. Our plot was on one of the mid terraces where all the plots were large. There are two toilet blocks, they are not modern but they were cleaned a couple of times a day and were always clean.

There is a small shop on site that does the usual bread etc. in the morming. The bar also does pizas and chips.

The site is so far away from the road that noise is not a problem.

There are tennis courts, boule area and an area to kick a football about - all away from the main site so you don't annoy anyone.

There is a bridge across the road from the site that leads to a beautiful sandy bay. When the tide is out it is a lovely gently sloping beach with rocks to explore around the outside.

There were a lot of dutch on site when we were there, but they tended to be on the upper part of the site together.

The site is used a lot as a stop-over for people using the Cherbourg crossing, so vans leave early in the morning and quite a few arrive each evening.

The waste bins are at the site entrance so there is no problem with wasps.

The Caravan Club have chosen this site for an arranged stay for people who have never been abroad before - so that tells me they must think it is god site.

There is loads to do in the area, particularilly if you are interested in WW2.

Hi Val,

Site sounds OK but to cut the cost down we will have to travel from Calais.Unfortunatly we are still tied to the school breaks, but only for another year ( yes!!!! )

Pat - It appears to be about 450 kilometres from Calais to the site, according to Mappy (good website). You can use this site to work out a route, print out a map, and select various options (ie, with or without tolls, etc, or with a stop in a certain town). According to Mappy it will take you 4 hours 50 minutes - but towing (if you are) will take longer. Viamichelin is another good site for route finding in France - try them and see what you think.

Nice site, we've used it as a stopover and to explore the Normandy beaches etc. Lots of coming & going at all hours though as it's used as a stopover by mainly Brits because of its proximity to the ferry port at Cherbourg. Don't dismiss it though, as it's well placed. Great little bar overlooking the bay, and nice pizzas!
