Calor bottles

Hi I am confident that someone onhere can answer this for me, I have today been given a full bottle of calor propane, orange bottle, I was given it by a friend who was doing a house clearance, when I looked at it I've noticed the tap on it is different to what I currently use, at the moment my existing bottle has a top that my regulator just pushes straight down on to then to release it i press a button and it just pops off, the bottle I've been given has a horizontal screw in socket so I'm assuming that there must be other types of regulators that screw into the bottle, does anyone know if this is correct or am I just not going to be able to use it, shame to waste a full 6kg of gas. You got it !!. Go to a caravan shop and get a propane regulator, this screws into the tank then put the gas pipe on to it, job done .Just remember that the thred is anticlockwise .

Cheers for that, a free bottle of gas to good to not use and a new Reg will probably only be 5 or 6 quid so great, thanks again. BP

come on BP whats the colour of the bottles handle,
if it's metal and red is't a standard propane,
if it's grey and plastic it's the new calor lite bottle.
