Camping by the Dordogne

Would definitely recommend Moulin du Roch just west of Sarlat - part of Les Castels chain. Located just off the main route between Sarlat and Eyzies (D47).

If you want to be right alongside the Dordogne river then Soleil Plage and Port de Limeuil both get good write-ups. We've been to Soleil Plage, and liked it very much, but in peak season it is very popular and expensive. Out of season it takes Camping Cheques - a very good saving over the normal site price. Port de Limeuil takes the ACSI card up to the 7 July, and after 24 August, and at 13 euros is very good value.

Unfortunately, Moulin du Roch doesn't take dogs. We've looked at the Soleil Plage before but are a bit concerned about the route in alongside the Dordogne. It seems quite narrow - anyone got any comments on this?

It's not a problem - it's a very quiet lane, not much traffic, and not really particularly narrow, except in one or two parts.
