Am looking to go to La Croix Du Vieux Pont (Paris) at Easter and Witsun 2007 (school holidays half term) wanting to use camping cheques because it is cheaper than booking ferry and then campsite. Could anyone tell me if the cheques can be used during the school holidays and how much they charge for an additional person (child.

We know that at witsun half term the site was fairly empty but has anyone been at easter and was there pitches available? Do you think that we should prebook the site to ensure a placement. Has anyone used camping cheques during these holiday times. Are they a good thing or a bad thing or do you think it would be just as well to book the ferry and then the campsite separately?

Have a look at the Camping Cheque website, http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/en/

Restrictions are usually only imposed during July and August. I would have thought Easter would have been quiet in France. The French have a totally different idea of caravanning to the Brits and tend mainly to camp in July/August.

Can't help you with the cheques, but we stayed at the site a couple of years ago and it was fab. The kids loved the site as much as Disney Land. Driving to Disney is a doddle, but for a trip into Paris i'd take the bus which the site puts on,

Gavin.

Your camping cheques will work up to 1 July so you should be ok.

We stayed at this sit some years ago in September. It has a fairly high "rentatent" presence and all the statics are round the lake. Personally it was not for us but then we did not have kids.

The trips into paris are great as you don't need the car

You should be Ok using Camping Cheques. Usually you pay a small supplement for each extra child and each extra adult - the supplement varies from site so site, and some do free children. You should have no problem at Easter or Spring Bank Holiday. Don't bother to pre-book. We use Camping Cheques all the time and have never booked!

Agree with the above (Vals) comments but would add that if you go often, the Gold Card is worth having as one can pre book free with no deposit on many sites and that can save stress with children. It is also worth ariving b4 1600 Hrs if you havent booked, as it does give better odds at a popular site. The Camping Cheque site is very good (as long as you bo not expect to much from the Forum.

I'd agree with Mike - the Camping Cheque website is good - easy to find sites, with enough description of each to give you a 'taster' - and each site specifies the dates it will accept CCs. However, the forum is rubbish! I've done my bit to try to encourage responses, but it's no use - I've almost given up now, but occasionally respond to someone else who is waiting for an answer to a query. It's a shame, because those of us who use CCs could benefit a lot from the advice of like-minded others.

I agree with your opinion of the CC forum. the Dutch forum is more active, trouble is I know no Dutch. I use CC's (via gold card) supplemented with the ACSI card.

Val and Hymerman.

We three are all singing from the same hymn sheet as far as camping cheque forum is concerned.

It does deserve to survive so lets give it one more try and between us lets be nice to it and act as mother superior.

The end product is so good it is a pity people do not have faith.
