Hello everyone

Just booked rally at Fornella in August.
Who has been there? Got any info about it?
Is it far from local towns etc?
We will travel via Germany and Switzerland into Italy.
Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Brum

never stayed at camping fornella but have stayed near by at camping weekend and camping belvadere, which are near by. nearest town is Salo as that area is made up of communes which are
little villages really. Assume you meant you are travelling via germany and austria, and not germany and switzerland? if so be aware if hitting Italy from the brenner pass on a saturday that traffic
at that time of year will be awfull on the A22 motorway from chuiso to past Bolzano, and again espeicaully on saturday, the esternside of the lake will be slow and congested ,it might be better taking
the A22 down to the A4 getting on the A4 eastward and getting off at desenzano and heading up the lake that way.
have a good trip.we go their for at least a week each year and this year we will be 20 miles up the lake at tignale the last week of August into sept, more than happy to try to answer things for you...

Thanks for the 'heads up' Jonny G.
It will be the Switz option for travelling, We used a similar route last year en-route Rome.
Reasons for avoiding Austria and the Brenner Pass are
We have used that route in 2008 and found the Brenner Pass to be quite tedious with its 'no overtaking' rule.
Secondly, we now have a motor caravan weighting in at 5 tonnes, that would need a Go Box in Austria which would mean a very expensive journey. The Switz method of buying a 10 day permit works out much cheaper.

Thanks again to Lutz who highlighted this to me last year

hi indeed we also favour going straight through Switzerland unless we are to spend time in the sudtirol.. motor caravan hey, well that opens up a few different options
we park up at colderio services [last one in switzerland] just a gew 100 yards from the border with Italy.as we are ready to move by 6.30am/7am. we get off at chiasso and head the couple of miles into como [no customs] and the bottom corner of lake como for a cappo. free parking and no traffic .this is usually a saturday.we then head off cross country to bergamo taking in some of the senary
and missing out milans ring road and tolls.much easier in a car or motor caravan than towing. at bergamo we pick up the A4[ although
we have driven past it to brescia avioding tolls] at brescia you can take the road to Salo more scenic shorter so not much slower than belting along the Autostrader at 70mph..and more chance of finding cheaper fuel to
