Hi

I am booked on to the above site in Normanday for 2 weeks from the beginning of July. We are getting the ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg as this is our first time abroad with the van I would appreciate some advice regarding how easy it is to get to the ferry and get on the ferry and also what the route is like to the site as I have a fairly large caravan 22ft I would like to know if there is any narrow roads etc. Any advice and experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks!

We usually go to this site every Easter and with our 26' twin axle. No problem with roads.

The journey to Portsmouth is very straight forward M275 off M27 -following sites for car ferry then for cross channel ferries. after check in you will be put in your lane and called on in due course. Of the other end follow green road signs to CAEN. You will end up on N13 heading towards Caen. Get off at junction sign posted to St Mere Eglise - off slip road, left across bridge and then right turn into village. At cross roads in village turn left on D15 to Raveloville - you will come to a T junction with D14 - turn left then right turn to continue on D15 to Ravenoville Plage. Continue until you are nearly at the beach and turn right in front of the Normandie Brasserie (Route de Utah Beach) - the site is along this coast road on the right hand side - impossible to miss. Site is quite large so have a good look around before chosing your pitch - just find another pitch to park on whilst you look.

Have a good time - I am sure you will enjoy the site as much as we do.

If you didn't already know, Le Cormoran takes Camping Cheques up until the 11th July, saving up to 14 euros per night on the normal site tariff for two adults, pitch, car and caravan, and electricity (normally 22 euros up until 3rd July, and then 28 euros up until the 11th July).

I can only reiterate what David Klyne has written. Please do not follow your sat nav route (assuming you may have one) as doing so will land you in all kinds of trouble with v narrow roads, etc as I know from experience. Follow the route David has given. This is an excellent site, well run with good sized pitches; during our couple of visits, last one a couple of years ago, there were large serviced pitches at the "back" of the site. The church in Ste Mere d'Eglise is well worth a visit and a couple of moments of silent meditation.
