I have recently purchased some dog food from B&Q who now have a range of external market place suppliers who supply goods that are well outside of what is B&Qs normal range. The dog food was considerably cheaper than other offerings, dispatches very quickly and quite surprisingly it was transported via Amazon so good communication on its dispatch and delivery. An ever changing commercial world.

I never said everything was cheaper, as it’s not even like that on Amazon. But 50 whimzees M/L rice bones were £35 considerably cheaper than many others. It often tge case with dog foods that smaller quantities are proportionally more expensive, so you are not comparing like for like. I buy Chudleys at 15 kg vat free. Like most things I shop around as prices change.

If we did all our shopping at Amazon or B&Q our little local High Street would disappear and we would become another dormitory Town .
A lovely lady, Barbs, has run our local pet shop for 40 years. She may not be as cheap as B&Q but I know she always stocks what we need. By the time I’ve driven to a major store and wasted time and fuel I doubt there is much cost difference.

But I didn’t drive to BQ it’s part of their online offering. You’ve hit the nail on the head though as I find driving to local stores often results in disappointment as I cannot find what I require. Then there are the fuel costs and invariably parking charges too. So then I have no option but to fall back to the online offerings. Most of my shopping is online, but my wife still ventures out for her weekly visit to the town center, but I haven’t a clue what she does though.

You’re lucky ! I do most of the domestic shopping. Early Monday mornings I meet a lot of local chaps who count it as there little outing🤪. Monday morning is great for Tesco bargains👍

Out of town shopping malls and retail parks, caused a decline in town centre shops. Now on line shopping is hitting them as well.

Not sure about that as this week I looked for a new AGM battery for the Jeep. I could get a Bosch from Tayna for about £159. fitting about £60. Went local to a garage with good reviews. They wanted £329 for the same battery incl fitting. Eventually they dropped the price to £239 which I accepted. They fitted the battery.

I then inquired about changing the smaller aux AGM 12v battery which on Tayna was about £50. They quoted me £189 for the same battery incl fitting and would not budge on the price. I declined their kind offer even though I still need the battery. I would fit it myself if it was in a normal place, but it is under the driver's seat and awkward to access the bolts as need a long extension for the rachet. It also has the square terminal where the "tower" id fitted for where the nut screws down onto it.

In our village every month we get a small newsletter in the shape of a book which has numerous ads for local trades people. In the past we have contacted some of them and IF they reply to a message left on their phone, they have silly prices.
