I am going to this region on August 16th, has anybody got any information on this site? What are the pitches like, and what are the best ones? Do I need to book? I am also thinking about going to the Camping de Chantepie nearby - thanks to James for his information about this site.

I can't decide which site to go for.

Many thanks Matt

We stayed at their sister site "Camping de l'etang" in Brissac Quince which is about 30 minutes from Samur on the Angers road.

Excellent site, immacualte, nice diner and freindly staff. There is a pond for fishing too which our children loved. Toilets look new and are immacualte.

As you may have noticed by their web site, they employ special needs people to maintain the site. They were very shy but worked relentles through the day to maintain the site, look after the flowers and keep it clean. They were also proud of their site.

If you like wine their selection is excellent.

Apprx 200 Yards from teh site they have afun park, which is free to residents, this has no electronic games but old fashioned pedal boats, donkey rides, trampolines ... Not only did the kids enjoy it the adults also had a whale of a time.

If their Sumar site is half as good as the Brissac quince site then you will not be dissapointed or you could go to Brissac Quince and visit Samur which is abeautiful city., as is Angers and Le Mans is an hour away if you like cars.

Hope this helps

Regards

Matthew - we last stayed at this sight about 20 years ago. A great sight only about 20 mins from Saumur. However we found an even better one at Coutances - Camping Montserbert - about 10 km from Saumur - superb in ground pool & facilities the last time we went in the 1980's.

Matthew

Our family of four stayed here in 1999. We had a service pitch of sorts. I can remember reception letting me have extra water hoses and drainage hoses as the service tower was quite a way from the pitch. The pitch was large, partly shaded and on the south of the site. Probably one of the best we have had in France. Site staff very friendly and helpful. Good range of activities.

Good position for getting to some of the chateaus, Futuroscope and more local activities. Restauant on site good and some off site.

When will we go back??
