Camping thefts

Last night we were victims of a very professional set of theft from a campsite i Baie de Somme. Several British and Dutch vans and tents were targeted between 1.30 and 3.00 in the morning. Tents were slashed and caravan blinds slashed to get to valuables. It was so organised that the Gendamerie are worried that it may spread. Fortunately my wife was woken by them and put a light but that did not scare them off. Unfortunately our daughter and son in law who arrived yesterday were robbed of all their Euros. People had their car keys taken from inside their tents and cars opened and searched. So campers, keep your car keys in a hidden place and your valuables somewhere else. Be vigilant as these gangs mean business.

I have always fitted a safe both in motorhomes and caravans I have owned.
Everything of value (phones, tablets, wallet, keys etc) goes into it at bedtime. That is a bit difficult in a tent though.

Of course low-lifes have never seen or heard of those sort of things. About as "secret" as placing your valuables amongst your laundry., I.e. pointless
