Campsite recommendations in the south of france.

Hello All,

We are thinking of spending some time in the south of france this summer and was looking at either Domaine des Naiades or Les Tamaris - has anyone been to either of these sites? Or if anyone could recommend a nice site with direct beach access please?

Many thanks and best wishes,

Jonah.

We've been to Domaine des Naiades, but it's a long time ago. It's terraced, up the hill from the sea, so it does get a cooling breeze. Some of the pitches had sun shelters with a cane roof to keep an area of the pitch cool, too. The site had a square reasonably sized pool, with a small slide, and ran a whole range of activities - OH did some scuba diving in the pool with our sons - and at that time all were free.

I assume the Domaine des Naiades is at Port Grimaud and Les Tamaris the one near Sete. des Naiades is as Val says from my recollection of a visit to have a look round. Although in my view it is a long trek to the beach. There are 3 beach side sites at Port Grimaud, Prairies de la Mar, Camping de la Plage and Camping Des Mures. I have in the past stayed at the first two. Prairies is a large and quite noisy site although some of the pitches away from the facilities will be quieter. La Plage is touring only and is based on both sides of the N98 as is des Mures. The beaches at these sites are really lovely with a gentle slope into the sea. Not sure about Mures but the other two don't have swimming pools. Les Tamaris, which we have also stayed at, is fine as a site but much in the immediate area of the campsite although Sete is well worth a visit. Some of the pitches ate a funny shape! The beach is more exposed than Port Grimaud but it does have a swimming pool.
